Hey everyone, the semester is starting soon and even though classes will be online, the Queen’s Debating Union will be taking place online! The Queen’s Debating Union holds weekly rounds where we discuss a wide variety of topics, ranging from politics and economics to social issues and sports to our own cases about Spongebob or Gorillas, virtually anything you would like to talk about. We have meetings and practice rounds twice a week on Wednesdays and Thursdays, as well as tournaments hosted by other universities weekly! When you get more comfortable with debate, you will be able to participate in tournaments online against debaters from other universities!
Join us at any of our weekly meetings on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 pm in Jeffery Hall Room 110 starting on September 21, 2022. Our first event is on Thursday, September 15 at 7pm – our 179th Opening of the House. This is a show debate with free pizza, held in Sterling Hall A. We also have a Novice Training Day on September 17 at 10am – where anyone can come and learn how to debate from the very basics! No experience required and no pressure to commit – just come out and meet some debaters and try out the activity! This will be held on the second floor of Kingston Hall.
